james kirtley benefit year
Premier Event
- Trip to Australia to watch England play
When I was fortunate enough to be granted a benefit year by Sussex County Cricket Club I had to start putting a lot of thought into the type of events that I could organise. The success of the England team in regaining the Ashes during the summer of 2005 gave me the perfect scenario to offer the opportunity to a limited number of people to join me in Perth, Western Australia and watch England in their attempt to retain what is probably the world’s smallest yet most important trophy.
This tour is limited to a maximum of 30 people and is being arranged for me by Grand Cru Cricket one of only two ECB approved tour operators. Reading through this brochure will give you an insight into what is going to be a trip to remember. So, if you are at all interested register as soon as possible. Why not join me for some superb cricket and at the same time relax whilst visiting one or two of Western Australia’s finest wineries.

Perth & Fremantle
Perth is a modern, vibrant City that enjoys a picturesque coastal setting on the banks of the beautiful Swan River, just 10 kilometres from where it flows into the Indian Ocean. Perth has some fine historic buildings including the Perth Mint and St George’s Anglican Cathedral and beyond the relatively small city centre, Greater Perth has several large parks and some delightful beaches on the coast. Boasting a balmy, Mediterranean-style climate, it has a wonderful relaxed ambience and an alluring indoor/outdoor lifestyle.
Fremantle is one of Western Australia’s most historic cities with a wealth of 19th century buildings, including some superb examples from the Gold Rush period. Founded on the mouth of the Swan River, Fremantle was intended to be a port for the new colony and it still has some thriving harbours today.
